My name is Rocío B. Zamora, I have been a parishioner of our Mother of Sorrows parish for 14 years and on staff since 2013. I’m the Hispanic Ministry Coordinator.
My journey of faith started when I was a child as a member of my local parish choir in Mexico City. I have always been in love with my faith thanks to the influence of my grandmother and mother. In 2002, I moved with my family, husband and two kids, to Tucson. Later, having experienced Cursillo, I felt called by Jesus and continued taking as many classes as I could to deepen my faith. My husband became a permanent deacon for the Diocese of Tucson in 2012, and I was certified into Lay Ecclesial Ministry along with him.
I have worked as volunteer in many different ministries within the parish but one of my favorites has been almost 10 years as catechist. I love to work with volunteers, to share with and guide them in the different ways that we can put our love for God in action with loving service within our community; how important this is for our parish - but most of all for God.
I also find a lot of joy working with the Hispanic community, bringing our culture and faith traditions to enrich our parish.
My favorite bible verse is Psalm 37:4:
Rejoice in the Lord and He will grant the desires of your heart!
¡Regocíjate en el Señor y Él te concederá los deseos de tu Corazón!
