PARISH COUNCIL OF MINISTRIES
Parish Council Member - Work with pastor and pastoral staff to develop and
monitor parish ministries. (Four year term)
1. CHRISTIAN EDUCATION FORMATION COMMISSION
Adults

Plan, monitor and evaluate all forms of Christian education
within the parish

Overseeing and supporting all retreat experiences at Our

Rosary Making
Make rosaries for mission and parish use
Single Parent Project+
Fellowship and enrichment for single parents
Young Adults+
Faith sharing activities for adults ages 18-35
Weekly Prayer Group
Various styles of prayer and meeting times
Children and Adolescents
Catechist; Teaching Assistant+
Teach religion to children ages 4-6th grade
Children & Youth Catechumenate+
Prepare older children for the sacraments (W.C.C.)

Ladies Guild
Brings together women who desire to follow Christ more
closely within their own state of life
Seniors Group
Meet every Wednesday from 9:30am to 2:00pm for fellowship and
playing cards
Community Health & Caring Ministry Area
Stephen Ministry+
Prepares individuals to minister as spiritual & pastoral
care-givers for those in need during times of distress
MOSES
Hosts luncheons for families following a funeral
St. Peregrine Ministry Holds Masses to pray
for those with cancer and to promote the veneration of St. Peregrine
TIHAN (Tucson Interfaith/HIV/AIDS Network) Fosters HIV awareness and hosts a hot
lunch and social opportunities for HIV+ persons
Eucharistic Minister to the Homebound+ Takes Holy Communion to the homebound
Bereavement Support
Offered twice a year for those who have experienced the death
of a loved one
Health Care Ministry & Parish Blood Drive Volunteer services by nurses & health
care professionals; recruit donors, assist in Parish blood drive
Parish Counseling & Legal Assistance Provides limited assistance to those in
need of professional counseling or legal help
Charity & Outreach Ministry Area
St. Vincent De Paul Society Provides emergency food boxes and other aid
Casa Maria Outreach Sandwich making for the Catholic Worker House; collection of
donations of clothing, etc.
Primavera Group Supplies meals to the homeless
Charity & Outreach Ministry Area
JustFaith
30-week program addressing social justice and change through
reflections, study, prayer and community
Haiti Project
Provides support for the people of Haiti
Peregrinos Juntos
Prays for solutions to immigration & border issues; sponsors
the sale of JustCoffee
Habitat for Humanity Raises money & builds houses for the needy
Detention Ministry Brings Holy Communion, prayer, and Scripture services to
those incarcerated
Pima County Interfaith Council (PCIC) Builds power for actions in the pursuit of
justice
The Blessed Nuno Society+
Operates projects for orphaned children in Agua Prieta,
Sonora and other mission locations
Consistent Life Ethic
Treasures life in all its forms and honors the dignity of all
human persons
4. LITURGY AND WORSHIP COMMISSION

Note Safe Environment Policies: Our Mother of Sorrows, in
accordance with the Diocese of Tucson, safe environment policies, has made a
commitment to do everything possible to prevent abuse and violence against our
children and vulnerable adults. Our Parish Compliance Plan requires all
volunteers to attend a safe environment training program and fill out an
application for volunteer ministry.
+Ministry involving children, youth, and vulnerable adults will require you to
be fingerprinted as part of a background check.
