We are
a Council of Ministries, sharing with the pastor the responsibility for
establishing goals and objectives for the spiritual, social, liturgical,
educational and financial development of the parish. The Council
acts, in communion with the pastor and the pastoral staff, as a
consulting body. Acting as representatives of the parish-at large,
the OMOS Parish Council discerns the needs and desires of the
parishioners.
The
Council consists of twelve representatives chosen to represent a
cross-section of the parish and appointed after a discernment process,
guided by prayer. Members hold office for four years.
Council
Meetings are held at 6:30 am on the third Saturday of the following
months: August, September, November, January, March, and May.
To
assist the work of the Council and to broaden the base of dialogue and
representation within the parish community, the Council has established
ministry commissions which give specific direction to various aspects of
parish life.
Christian
Education Formation
Plans, coordinates
and evaluates all aspects of Christian education within the parish
Christian
Life
Promotes, develops
and sustains the community dimension of faith, family & social
life, coordinates works of charity and fosters education &
advocacy for social justice
Liturgy
and Worship
Plans, coordinates
and evaluates all aspects of parish liturgical activity
Human
& Financial Resources
Oversees, maintains and monitors
the human and financial resources of the parish
Building
and Maintenance
Supports the parish
maintenance staff in performing preventative maintenance and routine
repair activities, as well needed assistance on major repair &
capital improvement projects
OMOS
Parish School
Has equal status to a commission
in relationship to the Council and interfaces with the Council on
matters of mutual concern through the School Board
