SPECIAL TOPICS & EVENTS
9.
Of Gods and Men:
This DVD of faith and heroism describes
the life of the Cistercian monks of Tibéhirine in Algeria from 1993 until their
kidnapping and deaths in 1996. It
graphically tells the story of the 8 French monks who lived in harmony with
their Muslim brothers and sisters.
At one point, the army offered them protection, after foreign workers were
massacred by an Islamic fundamentalist group.
The monks refused. Should
they leave the country and go back to France?
Despite the growing menace in their midst, they slowly realized that they
have no choice but to stay… come what may.
The DVD presentation gives a profound insight into the best of Gospel and
Catholic spirituality. It will be
presented on Sunday afternoon, October 23rd
and November 27th
at 2pm. Participants will be invited
into a brief dialogue and discussion after each of the presentations. No fee,

God’s Word in Scripture about “Reaching out to the least” with Margaret
Lordon – September 12, 19, 26, October 3, 17:
God Graces us with numerous stories in both
the Old and New Testaments in order to move us to “Reach Out to the Least,” in
living the parish pastoral plan for 2011-2012.
In this five session study-discussion-prayer time together, we will delve
deeply into several of these stories and passages. The aim is to hear the words
and glimpse the face of God through God’s words of compassion for not only
others, but ourselves as well. You
are welcome to join us. No prior
Bible Study experience is needed.
“Let anyone with ears to hear, listen,” as the Lord invites us in the Gospel of
Matthew, 13:9. The session will be
led by Margaret Lordon, scripture and adult faith educator. Suggested donation
of $15 is accepted, but not required.

When our problems are serious, as JOB’s, I guess we might have a right.
Yet, despite the Wisdom of his friends and peers, JOB refuses the all too
common human wisdom and insights. So
does God. Where will this journey
take us? Come and see.
Thursday nights in the Parish Activity Center, from 7-9 p.m.
Call the parish office to make reservations, 747-1321.
Fee $20.00. Fr. Charlie will
